HYPER-CONVERGED INFRASTRUCTURE (HCI)
Hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) is a converged infrastructure platform where servers and storage are combined in a distributed infrastructure platform with intelligent management software to create flexible building blocks, replacing the traditional architecture consisting of separate servers, storage networks, and storage arrays. More specifically, it combines commodity data center server hardware with locally attached storage devices (rotating disks or flash) and is supported by a distributed software layer to eliminate common pain points associated with legacy infrastructure.
